Sea Otter Visits the Whale House

Updated: Nov 15, 2023

If you've recently stayed in the Blue Whale or Humpback Whale Suite, you may have noticed a Sea Otter hanging around the organic garden. Normally it's easy to see families of sea otters in and around the waters of Mobile Bay, but it's less common to see them on land, even here in the ecological reserve, and especially in a strawberry patch.

Here we go a waddling ...

The local sea otter, however, isn't as interested in the fresh strawberries and asparagus growing in the Whale House organic garden as it is in the Whale House Ducks; Mystico, Snowflake, Mowhawk, George, and Randy.

Sea Otters are excellent hunters and eat much more than fish, so next time you see the Whale House ducks, please tell them to stay out of the organic garden.
